What wonderful looks like

An unexplainable anomaly has occurred.

I have experienced a series of  wonderful weekends.

Sure they had their blips and there were scuffles, but those minor details were soon
overlooked and forgotten in the presence of an overpowering force -
the feelings of happiness, belonging and contentment.
I've been struggling with these.

I can't quite put my finger on how this series of weekends happened one week after another... but I hope it doesn't stop.

Here's a glimpse of what wonderful looks like..

Flower Festival / Super Bowl Weekend

Oh Chinatown you never change.

With your throngs of old men playing Chinese chess. Vendors peddling their wares. Lucky cat. Arthritis balls. Made in China products. Butchers hanging up some duck.

As for Super Bowl Sunday
there was...

FOOD
(top left clockwise) Dominos (soooo much better), Kara's Cupcakes, Chicken Long Beans, Bean Dip (my fav!)
If I could eat only one thing for the rest of my life it might be.... bean dip, burritos, or Girl Scout cookies.

SHOPPING

The best way to spend half time.

And I think there may have been some FOOTBALL on tv?

Valentines / Chinese New Year Weekend

What crazy people drive through Little Italy and Chinatown on Valentines/Chinese New Year Day?

We do.

The view was so worth it.
(FYI: I wasn't driving.)

Red and White Fleet Valentine's Day Cruise.
Boudin catering + sourdough crab = drool.

Alcatraz Island.

Elmo / Bill's / Bubble Fight / Sister's Appreciation Weekend

Border's event.
No costumed character but there were songs and games and I wished I was 5.

BEST BRUNCH SPOT-
Bills
in Willow Glen

(top left clockwise) plenty of hot cocoa, california benedict (?), chocolate chip pancakes, salmon benedict

BUBBLE FIGHT

It started with a $2 jug of bubble syrup from Walmart. (such a good deal!)

Then came the challenge.

Yes the Ultimate Bubble Showdown. was
epic.

Bubbles in yo face! Eat my bubbles!

SISTER'S APPRECIATION

Who doesn't like getting appreciated time to time?

Yes. That IS a korean burrito bar complete with spicy pork, bulgogi, and kimchi.
I know you are jealous.
We are loved.

Yay for gifts!

I totally called the flan dessert.
Too bad my tummy was already full of burrito. Just the way it should be.

Rock Band!
Who knew Steph could look so good in a cowboy hat? Looks like Gary wants to play drums.

Movie Night / Theater Night / Birthdays Weekend

The September Issue
Movie/Dessert Night
(note: do not watch in HD)

Can you tell my color scheme?

Red pompom. Gift bag (with mini fondue kit). Red velvet cupcakes (thanks Duncan Hines!) professionally frosted by Alice. White chocolate fondue. Jbear's famous strawberry + gorgonzola bruschetta. Ryo's oh so garlicy garlic bread. Robert's cupcake decorating skills in action. Nomnomnom.

Trader Joe's flax seed chips are surprisingly good! I'm missing pictures of the brownies and pound cake. I dipped them in the fondue and had a massive sugar rush.

Theater Night

The play was meh but Berkeley food never disappoints.

Gregoires french take-out dinners are too expensive and I for once did not want Chickentown (gasp!) and Jbear did not want bbq (boo!) so we settled for Barney's because I wanted some sweet potato fries. Yum!
(I must learn how to make them!)

What will this weekend bring?
