Berkeley stomach filling

I love Berkeley food.
I will drive all the way there just to eat.
If I get to see people that's even better.
My favorite place is OB Town, formerly Chicken Town.

Fried chicken is good.
Korean fried chicken is the best.

I dream of this stuff.
Just hearing the words "chicken town" makes me salivate. Darn pavlov!

the dish before THE dish.
cabbage with some thousand island.
why do Asians like thousand island sauce so much?
it's like our favorite.

THE dish. #2 fried chicken with special sauce.

THE dish. #4? garlic fried chicken.
I love fried garlic chips.

I like #2 the best.

Then lug your chicken-stuffed belly to College Ave. for some Ici.
Different interesting flavors made from organic, local sources.

I think this was vanilla with pumpkin chips and toffee & rose vanilla.

High-Five Lunch Buddies!

Good night.

Food - clam buttah delight.

Jbear went to a friend's place and came back with yummy recipes.
The secret is to soak everything in garlic and butter.
I approve.

Clams + Butter + Garlic (+ Something Green)

1. Buy lots of clams.
2. Throw in some green stuff (chopped scallions) to make yourself feel better.
3. Chop up a bunch of garlic cloves. Whatever you think is reasonable. And DOUBLE it.
4. Melt one stick of butter in large pot. (or two)
5. Once butter simmers, throw everything in and watch some JS until the clams are ready (when they open up their mouths to say eat me).

Delicious. You are the Asian Paula Dean. Paula Nguyen.
Eat with rice. or plain. with your hands. like me.
because you cannot wait for the rice.
it. is. that. Good.

People may ask - What is this delightful sauce?
You respond - Buttah. Pure buttah. Please eat before it solidifies.

Dog days of summer

Whew! What a month!
This past week was probably my most stressful post-college.
I can't wait to just relax. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to do that.

But I do know some dogs that do.
I love taking pics of Jbear's dogs.

Especially the brown! He one doesn't even move.
unless he rolls over to get his belly rubbed.

or there's food.

or sees a squirrel.
(he loves squirrels so much he will jump out of moving vehicles to chase them.)

is that for me?

I could take pictures of this dog all day.
There are plenty more where that came from, unfortunately, iphoto is being difficult and not uploading all my 200 pictures at once. I get about 7 each upload. Maybe I'll get all of them by upload #30. Sigh. Technology frustrations.

Bringing color to Kenya

[2? weeks ago]
Last week I was terribly motivated to see how far I could stretch $10-20 amidst back-to-school-sales for Operation Christmas Child (OCC).
OCC is an event put on every Christmas by Samaritan's Purse. You fill up shoeboxes with little fun gifts for children who probably aren't getting much for Christmas, not because they've been bad, but because their families are unable to afford those types of things. The shoeboxes are shipped all over the world. They're on facebook!

Anyways,
when I mentioned my plans to BabyJ during book club, her reaction was "You're going to store all that stuff until Christmas?" I don't mind stuffing things into my already bursting closet, but her reaction did get me thinking. Maybe someone else could use those supplies NOW.

I turned around and there stood Steven talking to someone else about his upcoming missions trip to  Kenya. They are leaving next week. I have not known him that long, but one thing I DO know is that he has a BIG heart for kids. The purpose of the Kenya trip will be to visit one particular slum and lead VBS for the kids. What a perfect opportunity.

FYI, this is how far $15 will get you
if you shop right now:

10 - 11pk markers
10 - 24pk crayons
4 - Sterilite Bins
Jbear found some pretty cheap scissors too!

Pretty amazing how far certain timing can take you.

Note: Please pray for Kenya and the team.
